Conservative Group – Center For Military Readiness – Distorts Facts On DADT
Since 1957 there have been roughly 18 studies done on Gays and Lesbians serving openly in the military. ALL of those studies find no problems with unit cohesion or military readiness.
Military readiness is currently being undermined by discharging thousands of Honorably Serving American Soldiers each year from active duty because they were born Gay or Lesbian.
The CONSERVATIVE RAND Corporation conducted an extensive study in 1993. That study showed no negative impact from Gay and Lesbian Americans serving openly in the United States Military…this is why the RAND Corporation supports allowing Gay and Lesbian military member to serve openly.

A working group tasked to look into the question of repealing the ban on homosexuals serving in the military says it will make an objective assessment of the issue. A conservative military watchdog hopes the group will make good on that promise.
Pentagon general counsel Jeh Johnson and Army General Carter Ham testified for the first time last week since being tapped to lead the nine-month study. They have promised to conduct a thorough and objective assessment on the policy that focuses on ensuring troops do not lose their edge in battle. Ham told a House panel that military readiness and effectiveness are the top priority, adding that is what the nation expects of the military.
Elaine Donnelly is president of the Center for Military Readiness (CMR), which has been fighting hard against repeal of the 1993 law which says homosexuality is incompatible with military service. She is encouraged that one of the leaders promised two significant things.
Elaine Donnelly”The working group will have to show how current law is harming military readiness — [and] frankly there is no evidence that it is,” says Donnelly. “And secondly, they will have to discuss whether repeal of that law and passage of a new law will enhance military readiness or…harm military readiness.”
The CMR president admits, however, that she does have a problem with the working group using research from the Rand Corporation in its review. “The Rand Corporation is an advocate group for gays in the military,” she explains. “They’ve shown that repeatedly, time and time again. Whether or not there will be a broader reach of research done remains to be seen.”
Donnelly says if the working group ultimately presents an objective review on the issue, there is no way Congress would repeal the law.
