Three Overlooked Skills For A Post Collapse America
Tons of information has been published about post collapse jobs and which skill sets will support you after the inevitable implosion of the American economy. For instance, finance workers are useless in a barter based economy but a car repair person can trade their skills for just about anything needed.
Most survival website are published by fundamentalist christians who eagerly await the end of days. As such, these sites tend to focus on established christian survival principles omitting anything “morally” questionable. There are volumes of pages dedicated to soap making but few on producing beer.
Growing medicinal herbs (a.k.a. pot), distilling grain alcohol, and brewing beer are three often overlooked skills that guarantee survival in the post collapse world.
All over the counter pain relievers and most pharmaceuticals are produced overseas. In a post collapse America medicines of any sort will become rare. Curing many common diseases becomes impossible as doctors focus on emergency care and managing pain. Medical marijuana and other herbal remedies become mainstay treatments.
As with cultivating marijuana, distilling your own grain alcohol (moonshine) is illegal in most states. This is unfortunate since moonshine is a handy fuel for lanterns, generators and even retrofitted cars. In a post collapse world grain alcohol becomes an essential sterilizing and disinfecting agent not to mention a pain management tool. A great remedy not only for physical pain but also the mental anguish most Americans will feel from losing their stable and secure lifestyle.
Along with moonshine, beer becomes a hot commodity for the depressed American public. Anything to escape reality will be in high demand especially as anti-depressants and cigarettes run out. Beer offers an escape…a return to normal things. There is nothing better than a cold beer after a hard days work, very American, very normal. If you can brew beer you can support yourself.
Developing the skills to produce these three essential barter items could mean the difference between survival and starvation in post collapse America.
