Westboro Baptist Won’t Protest Child’s Funeral In Exchange For Radio Time
Westboro Baptist Church (registered hate group) will not picket the funeral of 9-year-old Christina-Taylor Green, who was kill in the assassination attempt on Congresswoman Gabrielle Gifford, in exchange for free air time on several radio stations.
An anti-gay church group says it will not picket the funeral of the 9-year-old girl killed in Tucson in exchange for air time on two radio stations, The Topeka Capital-Journal reports, but will go ahead with pickets at the funeral of a federal judge killed in the attack.
The report comes as the Arizona legislature has unanimously passed emergency legislation aimed at keeping the protesters at bay at the funerals of the victims of Saturday’s shootings.
The Kansas-based Westboro Baptist Church regulars pickets military funerals to draw attention to its view that the deaths are God’s punishment for the nation’s tolerance of homosexuality.

The christian church regularly protests at the funerals of fallen American soldiers claiming that their death is gods wrath on the United States for not following the biblical mandate to kill Gays and Lesbians. The ministry is known for it’s slogan “God Hates Fags”.
Shirley Phelps-Roper, a church spokeswoman, said the pickets had been called off after radio talk show host Mike Gallagher offered to have her on his radio program Monday.
Phelps-Roper said the decision boiled down to the church being able to communicate its message with as wide an audience as possible. She said Gallagher’s radio program is nationally syndicated and has an audience estimated to be about 10 million people.
The church also negotiated 30 minutes of air time on “The Steve Sanchez Show” on KXXT-AM, a 50,000-watt station in the Phoenix suburb of Tolleson, Arizona, and Canadian station CFNY-FM, 102.1 “The Edge” in Toronto.
