Mega-Church Mega-Bigot Joel Osteen Against Civil Unions For Gay And Lesbian Couples
Joel Osteen, the bigoted pastor of the Lakewood Mega-Church in Houston Texas, not only condemns marriage equality for Gay and Lesbian Americans but claims that civil unions are also against gods will.
Civil unions are the secular marriage contracts created to mollify the bigots in the christian church who claim that traditional marriage is a holy union between a man and woman. Civil unions were created to give Gays and Lesbians some equality while keeping them in their place.
The agreement was designed to appeased those in the christian community who claimed that Gays and Lesbians could use “any term but marriage” to describe their committed relationship. Apparently the christians are going back on their deal. No big shock there!
In the interview Pastor Osteen also pushed the discredited lie that homosexuality is an addiction like alcoholism that can be cured through prayer. This and other homophobic lies were created by several registered christian hate groups and are repeated daily by ministers across the country to justify violence and persecution of Gays and Lesbians.
Pastor Osteen needs to remember that when he preaches against the “sin of homosexuality” to his millions of followers that the message is driving the “faithful” to attack Gays and Lesbians. The audience for his hate speech is massive:

It would be nice if Pastor Osteen mentioned to his 7 million weekly viewers that every accredited medical, psychological and scientific institution in the United States agrees that homosexuality and heterosexuality are both normal, natural and unchangeable sexual orientations.
It would also be nice for the 30 million Gay and Lesbian people in the United States if religion focused a little more on fact and a little less on fiction. This is not about religious freedom:
It’s about the 3 Gay or Lesbian teens who commit suicide every day in America because of the lies told by these christian ministers.
It’s about the 14 hate crimes committed each day in America by those who believe the lies told by these christian ministers.
It’s about the discriminatory laws enacted in America by legislators and voters who believe the lies told by these christian ministers.
It’s about killing Gay and Lesbian Americans in the name of god!
Those searching for the source of the overwhelming violence faced by the Gay and Lesbian community need look no further than Pastor Osteen’s mega-congregation of hate and like thinking christian churches around the nation.
